In short
This is a personal website. It only counts visits with Google Analytics if you say yes to that, and it does not sell, share or combine your data with anything else.
Who is responsible
Almer Kaasschieter, the Netherlands. Questions or requests: almer@almerkaasschieter.nl.
Google Analytics (only with your consent)
When you first visit, a small message asks whether I may count your visit. Only after you choose Accept does the site load Google Analytics. It then records which pages you view, roughly where you are (country or city), and which browser and device you use. Google Analytics does not store your IP address.
For this, Google places two cookies: _ga and _ga_ND6E9ET42W. Google processes the data on my behalf, may do so in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and keeps it for at most 14 months. I only look at totals, such as how many people visited.
If you choose No thanks, nothing is loaded. You can change your choice at any time with Cookies at the bottom of the site; saying no later removes the cookies.
Your choice
Your answer to the message is stored in your own browser (local storage, ak-consent), so you are not asked again on every visit. It never leaves your device.
Videos
The clips from YouTube and Vimeo are only loaded when you press play. YouTube is embedded in its privacy-enhanced mode and Vimeo with tracking turned off, but once a video plays, these services may still store data in your browser under their own privacy policies. If you have not accepted cookies, the player first asks whether you want to play the video this way or watch it on YouTube or Vimeo itself; that answer is remembered in your browser (ak-video). My own videos are served from this website and never need this.
Everything else
Fonts, images and scripts come from this website itself; no other outside services are used. Like every web server, the hosting provider keeps short technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.
Your rights
You can ask me what data I have about you, and ask me to correct or delete it, by sending an email. If you think I handle your data incorrectly, you can also file a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
